The Patron himself is recognised and respected as an icon of development through education under the most trying circumstances. He established the Jacob Zuma RDP Educational Trust over a decade ago to help orphans and underprivileged children to attend school and higher learning institutions. The establishment of the Jacob G. Zuma Foundation in 2008 afforded the Patron an opportunity to respond to a range of requests for assistance of an educational nature from the poorest of communities.
The Foundation is also in partnership with the AUN (American University of Nigeria) which provides 5 scholarships per year to students who were either at first year level or who have obtained a matric but do not have the necessary funds to continue their studies.
Through the education portfolio, the Foundation provides tuition support to school learners as well as tertiary students who might otherwise not have had the opportunity to study, affording them the chance to become economic participants in a future South Africa.
